'Chris Were' parliamentary candidate for Monmouth

'Chris Were' parliamentary candidate for Monmouth

Look back at the Euro election when Chris Were got 0 first preference votes and was bottom of the ballot of Green party members in Wales who were attempting to become a Euro candidate, Howeever Andy chyba dropped out and Chris Were was on the list.

The same Chris Were has been accused of  deeply offensive and misogynistic material posted to his website.  This is very relevant as Pippa Bartolotti was tweeting in March 2014
'Only the will put women first' when Chris Were has and continues to post what many would consider offensive material e.g.
In a tweet recently March 2014 he continues to revel in misogynist rantings

@ChristopherWere I really can't stand MRAs. http://fb.me/3QwKml3MY

Pippa Bartolotti might also mention that he has a conviction for driving without insurance

Chris is also a BRONY
"Okay guys, semi-serious My Little Pony question time. I’ve been thinking about making a video talking about whether or not a pony’s cutie mark can change, either if their life’s passion changes, or as they grow older. What are your guys thoughts on it?"

Some people have accused 'bronys' of being pedophiles

Chris is still posting videos on the dailymotion  video channel. Am I  the only person shocked that he boasts that the biggest group of his audience are girls aged 13 - 17...with videos called

'Chris Were' On women's representation in politics
"when it comes to gov its a bit  different than when you're hiring for a company When you are hiring for a company you want the best person for the job ..when you are looking at government you need someone who is representative there are 2 different things there so ..it would make sense that gov would be about 50% women . because that would be representative Now obviously when you are voting for your mp... competence is a big factor in that as well but so is representation as well so there is perhaps  more of a case for taking more women in to account in terms of government and politics as well "

The Relevance of My Degree ..."unfortunately  because I went to a  comprehensive school couldn't afford to go to public school even if though I did get the grades to get a scholarship I have always kind of been  emmm...sort of ..one step behind when it came to education & always have to work twice as hard to get a qualification half as good which is a real piss act??? for me"

How green was the deputy?

Unappetising news from Wales, where Chris Were, the deputy leader of the Wales Green Party, has been letting standards slip.

Mr Were, 25, is seeking nomination as a candidate for next year's European Parliament election. But he's not going the right way about it.

Were, you see, recently posted a mock tourism poster on his website that began with an offensive expression and got worse: "We've got fucking dragons, stunning birds, hard blokes, tidy mountains, male voice choirs, lots of sheep."

All very harmlessly self-mocking (if you're being generous), but then he lets himself down: "If a girl doesn't make you wear a condom, she probably didn't make all the other guys wear one either." And there's worse, sadly.

Cardiff-based environmental activist Anne Greagsby declares herself "appalled and disgusted at the deeply offensive and misogynistic material posted to Chris Were's website".

"The word in the mock tourism poster is the most misogynistic in the language. With someone like this in a senior position, no wonder the Greens in Wales haven't had the success of Greens in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland."

Mr Were, who lives in Monmouth, responded by apologising for "any offence" (sic). "The offending posts were clearly meant to be satirical and … were re-posted from other blogs." He laments the fact that a well-established, radical party "has to have its Welsh deputy leader do something mildly controversial before it can get any attention".

Wales Green Party leader Pippa Bartolotti has accepted Mr Were's apology. "The Green Party is a forgiving party. The deputy leader is a young person with lessons to learn. On this basis we propose to take no further action.

Offensive blog postings prompt sacking calls for Green Party's Welsh deputy

Criticism has been levelled at a leading figure in the Wales Green Party over an 'offensive' blog

The deputy leader of the Wales Green Party is facing calls for his sacking following a series of “deeply offensive” blog postings.
Chris Were posted to his website a mock tourism poster headed: “Only a c**t wouldn’t visit Wales”.
The mock poster goes on to state: “We’ve got f****** dragons, stunning birds, hard blokes, tidy mountains, male voice choirs, lots of sheep.”
In another posting, Mr Were shows a picture of a duck, with a superimposed slogan which states: “If a girl doesn’t make you wear a condom, she probably didn't make all the other guys wear one either.”
Mr Were’s website also has a link to a three hour 40 minutes long video which includes footage of him talking to a number of people. The video, entitled F*****’ Dragons Init,  has now been blocked to all except viewers personally approved by Mr Were.
A comment section on Mr Were’s website beneath the link to the video includes a question to him from someone who viewed it relating to sexual activity between people with an age gap of 20 years. In response, Mr Were wrote: “I’m just saying one would pass up the opportunity to enjoy the sexual company of someone 20 years younger if they were about 40. Lol [laugh out loud].
Mr Were, 25, was first elected deputy leader of the Wales Green Party last year and was re-elected to the post earlier this year. In 2011 he was top of the party’s regional list for South Wales East in that year’s National Assembly election, winning 2.68% of the vote. He is currently seeking nomination as a candidate for next year’s European Parliament election.
Mr Were’s blog postings were spotted by Cardiff environmental activist Anne Greagsby, who was expelled from the Wales Green Party after a dispute with other members. She said: “I am appalled and disgusted at the deeply offensive and misogynistic material posted to Chris Were’s website. The word in the mock tourism poster is the most misogynistic in the language.
“With someone like this in a senior position, no wonder the Greens in Wales haven’t had the success of Greens in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.”
Clwyd South Labour AM Ken Skates  said: “Anybody seeking public office has an important duty to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.  What they say and do, including what they post online, is a matter for close scrutiny.
“Clearly the content displayed on Mr Were’s website is degrading, offensive and totally inappropriate.  Coming as it does from the deputy leader of a political party in Wales is very worrying indeed and I would urge the Wales Green Party to take strong action against the individual concerned.”
A Welsh Conservative spokesperson said: “These foul-mouthed and offensive comments are completely unacceptable for a potential election candidate, let alone the deputy leader of a political party.
“Mr Were will be hard pressed to explain himself for what is an entirely inappropriate use of social media for someone in such a public position.”
A Plaid Cymru spokesperson said: “These are despicable comments. It is unacceptable for someone who holds such a prominent position within the party and for someone who is in the public eye in Wales to use such language. The Green Party should expel this member from the party.”
Mr Were, who lives in Monmouth responded: “I apologise for any offence any of the postings on my social media may have caused. That was certainly not my intention.
“The offending posts were clearly meant to be satirical and were not my own work. They were re-posted from other blogs.
“However, I do think it is a sad state of affairs when a well established political party, which has radical policies on all the major environmental and economic problems currently facing us, has to have its Welsh deputy leader do something mildly controversial before it can get any attention.”
Wales Green Party leader Pippa Bartolotti said: : “The Green Party in no way condones the use of bad language on any platform, in any form. The deputy leader has discussed these issues with me  and removed the content from his personal blog. It is a very serious matter, and the apologies we have received have been accepted and due notice taken of the very hard work Chris puts into the party on a daily basis.
“The Green Party is a forgiving  party. The deputy leader is a young person with lessons to learn. On this basis we propose to take no further action. However, I would like to very sincerely apologise to the public, and to our members for any offence which may have been caused.”
In 2009/10 Mr Were’s mother Ann Were, herself a former leader of the Wales Green Party, served as Mayor of Monmouth.

When is an apology not an apology?  (links not working as he has taken down the incriminating evidence)
